Honorary Doctorate for Phillip McCann

Phillip McCann is to receive an honorary doctorate from the University of Huddersfield. The Yamaha artist is famed throughout the brass band world as a performer, conductor, adjudicator and teacher. He has been a member of the University of Huddersfield’s Music Facultyfor almost thirty years.
 
He has been awarded both the prestigious Iles Medal and the Mortimer Medal from the Worshipful Company of Musicians, as well as the All England Masters Dedicated Service Award, and in addition to many other musical accolades the British public also reveres him for his sublime playing of the televised Hetty Wainthrop theme.
 
The well deserved honorary doctorate will be conferred at a ceremony later this year.
