New signings at Cory

The defending Champion, Cory, is preparing for its British Open campaign by boosting its ranks with two exciting signings. Owain Llestyn (cornet) and Emily Quick (percussion) will join the band ahead of the contest on 7thSeptember as they look to retain the British Open Trophy.

 
Owain (aged 18) began his playing at Llanrug Band and is now principal cornet of the National Youth Brass Band of Wales and led the 2019 European Youth Band. He has also played with Northop Silver, Fairey and is looking forward to beginning to study at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama later this year.
 
Emily (aged 19) grew up in Devon playing for Hatherleigh Town Band and also has distinguished youth credentials being the current principal percussionist of the National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain. She has also been a member of Bodmin and Flowers bands and is a student at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in Cardiff.
 
Commenting on the two new additions, MD Philip Harper said, "It's great to welcome two major young talents to Cory Band. I've been witnessing the development of their skills, musicianship and personality over the last couple of years, and I'm delighted to have found an opportunity to sign them at Cory.
 
I'm sure Owain and Emily have a very bright future ahead of them and we're all looking forward to having them in the band."
