New MD at Parc and Dare

Parc and Dare Band are extremely proud and excited to announce the appointment of a new musical director. Lewis Wilkinson is taking up the baton at the end of September 2019 when he re-locates to Cardiff to study at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama to complete his masters in conducting.

Lewis is a conductor with a wealth of experience in musically directing orchestras, opera, brass and wind bands and choirs in the Durham Area. He currently holds positions as the Musical Director of Durham Constabulary Brass Band, North Skelton Band and is the teacher and conductor of the Blackhall Youth Band. He has been awarded the Palatinate Award for 'Best Musical Direction' and received the Ian Graham Memorial Award.

Glen Narbeth chairman of Parc and Dare outlined the new M.D.’s credentials, “Whilst at Durham University studying music, he specialised in composition, conducting, historical musicology and arts management. This has given him a broad range of musical and organisational skills that have been put to use in his career to date. Above all else, he is an effective and engaging communicator with a passion for getting the best out of those he works with.

Lewis’s appointment signals exciting times for Parc and Dare as we are looking to re-establish ourselves on the local and national contest platform and to put Parc and Dare back to its forma prominent position, we are hoping that Lewis can also encourage new members to join as we have a few vacant positions, we are also starting a junior section in the coming weeks and all budding young players are welcome.”
