Ryan Watkins is new Hepworth MD

The Hepworth Band has announced that Ryan Watkins is to become their new Musical Director. Hepworth spokesperson David Clegg commented on the appointment: "We're delighted to have signed such a talented, charismatic and forward thinking young conductor to lead us. Whilst at Brighouse & Rastrick, under his musical mentor Professor David King, Ryan has proved himself to be a musician of the very highest calibre. We have been looking for a permanent Musical Director for the past year and we believe that Ryan is the right choice to take over the reins, to steer and build our ambitious band to further successes."

He added: "Hepworth Band are very grateful for the work that has been put in over the past year from the valued relationships with Dr. David Thornton and Mark Bentham, and also with Norman Law, who has led the band on various successful concerts throughout the year.
The band are very excited by the appointment and we look forward to a long and successful relationship."

Speaking about his new role Ryan stated, "The opportunity has come at a perfect time and was one I couldn't refuse. After being invited to a rehearsal, it was clear that Hepworth was in a strong place and had an excellent atmosphere in the band room. I can't wait to relish in the opportunity of taking them forward and help achieve the ambitions of the band players."

He added, "I would like to thank Slaithwaite for the two years we worked together. The band enjoyed a very successful period and it was a joy to be able to rehearse with a full band on a weekly basis. I'm hoping to remain connected in some way with them, and I know the conductor who takes them on will be very lucky to join such a welcoming band."
