NCBB set for a Sizzling Summer

This year the National Children’s Brass Band of Great Britain will be returning to the fabulous setting of Repton School in Derbyshire. The course will begin on Sunday 21st July and culminates with a concert on campus in the 400 Hall at Repton School on Friday 26th July at 2.30pm.

This year’s guest soloist David Childs needs no real introduction; he is an internationally acclaimed euphonium virtuoso, not to mention tutor and past member of the NYBB, who will no doubt delight the band and audiences once again this summer.

Music tutors include Tom Hutchinson and Richard Marshall (cornets) Zoe Lovatt-Cooper (flugels), Chris Bradley (horns), Jannicke Ellingsen (euphoniums and baritones), Paul Kiernan (trombones), Matthew Routley (basses) and Logan Hartley (percussion).

The programme that esteemed Artistic Director, Professor Nicholas Childs, has chosen for this year’s band combines a real mix of contemporary and traditional original brass band music, as well as a few classic transcriptions. It also features the World Premiere performance of Paul Lovatt-Cooper’s ‘Explosion’. Book your tickets now for what promises to be a musical treat from Britain’s youngest elite brass and percussion players.

The traditional open morning will be held on Tuesday 23rd July at Repton School with an open day the following week at the NYBB on 30th July. The events are primarily aimed at Brass and Percussion players aged 8-18, however all are welcome. You will enjoy a master class from the fantastic tutors, visit sectionals and have the chance to join the band for a rehearsal. Attendees also have the option to audition for the NCBBGB or NYBBGB on the day.
