North American Brass Band Summer School

The 2019 NABBSS is well underway with delegates once again enjoying superb tuition and guidance from the likes of David Childs, Tom Hutchinson, James Foster and several mentors including both current and alumni students from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Professor Nicholas Childs is putting the band through its paces during the day as they work towards two concert performances, however one of the band’s most high profile roles is its participation in the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo. The NABBSS band performs each day to an audience of approximately 10,000 dazzling with its entertaining and virtuosic set. The band also made time in its busy schedule today in order to celebrate Canada Day as part of the Canada Day Parade (pictured).

Commenting on the course so far one of the band’s co-founders David Childs stated: “This year’s NABBSS has got off to a flying start. Standards are excellent and I’ve been very proud of the performances the band has given so far. The band has an excellent set of tutors as always, and although we were naturally disappointed that my Dad was unable to join us this year, we are thrilled that my uncle, Professor Nicholas Childs was able to step in as this year’s Musical Director. I’m very much looking forward to our concerts at the Grand Parade and St Matthew’s as well as our final matinee performance at the RNSIT on Saturday 6th July.”
