Paul Woodward departs Black Dyke
Paul Woodward, Black Dyke’s long standing Co-principal Trombone has announced his departure from the Band. Commenting on the decision, Director of Music, Professor Nicholas Childs commented, “Paul has been a valued member of trombone section for sixteen years and it’s been a pleasure to have him in the band. We thank Paul for all his hard work over the years and wish him all the best with his ever increasing solo career.”
Fellow trombonist Brett Baker was also keen to thank Paul for his services to the band: “Paul has played trombone in the band since 2003, and became the band’s first ever Co-principal Trombone. The result has been a long tenure where Paul has served the band with distinction and I am personally very grateful.”
Paul confirmed, "It’s been a wonderful 16 years and a huge privilege to have served the band as Co-Principal Trombone. I look back and am so grateful for the experiences that have come my way and will cherish so many happy memories. I would like to especially thank my fellow trombonists and close friends Brett, Garry and Adrian for making my time at Black Dyke such a great chapter in my playing career. I wish them and the band all the best for the future”.
