National Youth Brass Band of Scotland Impress

The National Youth Brass Band of Scotland’s Easter Course, at Strathallan School in Perthshire, drew to a close this afternoon with a fabulous concert from both the Senior and Reserve Bands.

Former NYBBS member Rachel Neil impressed as this year’s featured soloist performing a new piece by composer Tom Davoren. Musical Director Ian Porthouse and his superb team of tutors had clearly put the youngsters through their paces during the week. Both bands were on excellent form as they showcased works by Malcolm Arnold, John Rutter, Grigoras Dinicu and Matthew Hall. The audience, many of whom were rightly very proud parents, were left in no doubt that the NYBBS is still a jewel in the crown of the Scottish brass banding movement.
