Brass in Concert gems Announced

Brass in Concert organisers have announced that Brighouse & Rastrick and euphonium virtuoso David Childs will be the featured artists at this year's Saturday evening concert prior to the Championship.

The 43rd Championships take place on the weekend of the 16th and 17th November at the Sage, Gateshead, sponsored by Yamaha, Banks Group and British Bandsman. Events begin with a performance from the Elementary Band from schools in the Bedlington and Ashington area, before the 2ndYouth Brass in Concert Championship. Additional educational events will surround the Youth championships before Brighouse and RAstrick take to the stage with MD David Thornton and Guest soloist David Childs for the World of Brass in Concert at 7.30pm.

Brass in Concert Chairman, John Woods stated: "We're delighted that David Childs and Brighouse & Rastrick will appear at this year's Brass in Concert Festival. Over the past two years our innovative approach to the Saturday evening concert has been very well received by the Sage Gateshead audience, but we have also kept in mind the appetite to hear great brass band music on its own.

“This year's programme will be specially selected to feature classic brass band music and startling virtuosity. Everyone can expect an evening of brilliant brass band gems."

John also stated that the line-up blue ribband entertainment contest will soon be confirmed. "We are in the final stages of securing the line-up and will announce this soon. Yet again it promises to be a memorable weekend, so please make sure you get the seat you want by booking early!"

The box office for these events opens on the 7th March
