£250,000 target achieved by Boobs and Brass
The incredible fund-raising brass band Boobs & Brass have managed to exceed their ambitious target of raising £250,000 for breast cancer research and related charities following a recent concert held at Lincoln Cathedral.
The remarkable sum raised since the band's formation in 2006 now stands at £250,208 with the most recent addition of £6,000 raised through an event organised the members of the Lincolnshire Hospitals Band.
Writing on the Boobs & Brass website page, founder Maggie Betts said: "The planning and organisation that went into this by our hosts was phenomenal, and to receive the amount for the charity is just quite extraordinary.
They were determined to get us to our target, and they did it. By the end of the evening, with the addition of the bucket collection and the merchandise sold by Glenis and Cheryl, not forgetting the bus raffle proceeds it is now official!"
She added: "It has meant so many different things to different individuals. To have raised this phenomenal amount for charity has been the icing on the cake. Let us hope that it has helped someone who has been less fortunate than ourselves.
Thank you to every player, conductor, compere, supporter, helper, who has travelled with us on this journey — we could not have done it without each and every one of you."
The band's final appearance will be a concert performance at the Butlins Mineworkers Festival at the Skegness Resort on Sunday 13th January.
