Stavanger impresses with brass band and symphony orchestra world premiere

The world premiere of a new 10-minute work by Torstein Aagaard-Nilsen, commissioned for the 100th anniversary of the Norwegian Band Federation (NMF) took place in Stavanger’s Konserthus on Friday 21stSeptember.
 
Stavanger Brass Band and Stavanger Symphony Orchestra delighted the audience with their performance of ‘Suvenir’ under the skillful artistic direction of Christian Vasquez. The concert performance was historically significant as well as musically enriching as it marked the first time in almost 20 years that the brass band has had such an important role within an orchestral world premiere.
 
Stefan Schulz also impressed with a performance of Søren Hyldgaard's 'Concerto Borealis for Bass Trombone and Orchestra' before the concert concluded with Elgar's 'Enigma Variations'.
