Chris Wormald Conducts Black Dyke in Bolton

On Saturday night, Black Dyke played to over 700 people in Bolton people at its first Victoria Hall concert since 2005.

During the fantastic concert which featured 'Journey into Freedom', 'March Slave' and a host of exceptional solos, star Flugel Horn player Zoe Hancock performed the solo 'Always on My Mind' arranged by Chris Wormald, but as the item was announced, Professor Nick Childs invited Chris from the audience onto the stage to conduct his own arrangement.

Although Black Dyke regularly records arrangements made by Chris on CD, this was the first time he has ever been invited to conduct the band in concert and, as a further surprise, Professor Childs then took a few photographs at the side of the stage to upload onto the Black Dyke Facebook page.

A great evening was had by all and it is hoped Black Dyke and Professor Childs will return to Bolton again much sooner than this latest gap of 13 years.
