Elland get a New Year boost from BBE

Elland Silver Band has received a grant from the Norman Jones Fund, administered by Brass Bands England, to fund a free workshop for young brass and percussion players. The event will be held on Saturday 27th January at Halifax Minster and led by soloists from the Cory Band.

Elland Silver Youth Band MD, Samantha Harrison, commented: "Preparations are already underway for the workshop which will now enable our young musicians and musicians from local bands, schools and music centres to experience tuition from some of the very best players in the banding world."

The workshop (12.30pm until 2.30pm) is open to any young brass and percussion players who have reached Grade 3 standard or above to come and join with members of Elland Silver Training Band.  Tutors from Cory will also deliver an advanced level workshop to members of the Elland Silver Youth Band, later in the afternoon.

Players will have the opportunity to rehearse and work on a selection of pieces, with the day closing with the workshop band performing in the special evening concert featuring the Cory Band.

The workshop and concert are free to all young musicians. To book a place for your child at the workshop please e-mail ellandband@hotmail.co.uk
