Breaking boundaries in Bergen

Leading brass band conductor and member of the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra trumpet section, Allan Withington, is currently composing, authoring and producing a cross-genre brass band and dance project inspired by Coco Chanel for Bergen International Festival audiences. Here, he leads us through his groundbreaking creative journey to present a brass band at the Festival for the first time.

… With a combination of dramatic landscapes, local colour and imaginative programming, the Bergen International Festival is well established as a centre for the northern European arts scene, presenting premières and new productions in the spheres of music, opera, theatre and dance through 250 events, staged during the course of 15 days, in 20 venues. This year, for the first time in its 65-year history, it will feature my brass band in collaboration with a theatre company to give the world première of Nr. 5 - the Story of Coco Chanel, whose timeless designs are still coveted the World over today.
