Luzern claims seventh Swiss Open

The 28th Besson Swiss Open Contest, held
in the Lucerne’s Culture and Convention Centre (KKL), saw the Brass Band Bürgermusik Luzern, conducted by Michael Bach, claim its seventh success since the first edition of this competition in 1990. Regis Gobet was there to savour every performance.

The Besson Swiss Open Contest 2017, which took place on 23 September in the magnificent KKL in Luzern, involved ten bands, six of which - the best of 2016 - had qualified automatically, whilst four contenders were selected from registered bands by the organising body, World Band Festival. The morning was dedicated to the set test, Peter Graham’s Metropolis 1927, whilst the afternoon saw each band performing a short programme, including a classical transcription and a contest march…
