East of Scotland Youth Solo and Ensemble Contest

It was an incredible day of music-making at last month’s East of Scotland area youth solo and ensemble competition. A huge well done to every single young musician who took to the stage today at the Edinburgh Gorgie Salvation Army hall. “The talent on display across the East of Scotland is truly inspiring, and you should all be immensely proud of your performances,” commented association president Derek Brown.

Taking home the silverware were:
Junior Solo Winner: Eilidh Farren (Whitburn Heartlands)
Intermediate Solo Winner: William Tawn (Kinneil Youth)
Youth Solo Winner: Tyler Clark (Kirkintilloch Kelvin) (pictured)
Intermediate Ensemble Winners: Whitburn Youth Band

The event was adjudicated by Mark Good and the piano accompanist was Chris Baxter. Derek added: “Thanks to Mark, Chris and everyone who took part. Whether it was your first time on stage or not, thank you for sharing your music with us. The future of the brass band movement is looking bright! Finally, thank you to the parents, teachers and volunteers who make these opportunities possible. We can't wait to see you all again next year!”
