Tredegar honours memory of Jonathan Bound
On November 15th at Rougemont School, Tredegar Band took to the stage to thoroughly entertain the audience, in memory of their much loved and missed baritone player Jonathon Bound. Jon sadly passed away last year, very suddenly, at the age of 48. Hoping to capture his spirit of fun, the band performed a programme of his absolute favourite works for band to honour his legacy.
Tredegar MD, Ian Porthouse said, “There was no better way to remember Jon than by having a great night of musical fun. He is still greatly missed by us all and there isn't a rehearsal that goes by that he doesn't come to mind, especially with laughter. All the music was chosen with him in mind by his family and friends and so it was a night of smiles and laughter as well as the most amazing memories of a fantastic person.”
Another band spokesperson stated on social media, “Thank you to everyone who came to support us at our Jonathan Bound celebration concert. We had a great evening remembering what a character and dear friend he was to us all. It was wonderful to see so many familiar faces in the audience, especially Jon’s family who were there to support the event. It was also a special honour to have Jon’s nephew, David, sit in and play with the band using Jon’s baritone.”
Simon Bound added, “A huge thank you to the band for arranging such a fantastic memorial concert for my brother, Jonathan Bound. Arranging a concert is no small feat, and we truly appreciate the amount of work, time, and care that went into making the evening so special. The concert was a fitting tribute to his time with the band, filled with beautiful music and so many memorable moments for both his family and his band comrades. It was also great to see so many of Jon’s friends from the band over the years — a real testament to the impact he had and the friendships he treasured. Thank you — Diolch — for giving him such a wonderful and heartfelt tribute.”
