Stanley Entertainment Contest
Felling took the honours in the Stanley Entertainment Contest held at the South Causey Inn earlier this month. Commenting on the band’s success a member of Felling stated, “We are extremely proud we were awarded 1st Place and also won the best percussion prize. The band had a fantastic day. Everyone felt confident as we took to the stand. The pieces went so well, and the band thoroughly enjoyed the performance. Feedback from the adjudicators said, ‘no intonation issues, that’s great!’ and ‘intonation was excellent’.
“Huge thanks to our MD Jason Smith for a great choice of programme and his hard work putting the band through their paces especially focusing on intonation during rehearsals. Congratulations to all of our soloists but especially Colin Miller on his super xylophone solo! Also, thanks to Chris, Dave, Ray and Rob for their amazing contributions on stage. We made a fab team! We would like to congratulate all of the bands on their placings and special awards, but special mention must go to our Euphonium player, Clare Winter, who conducts Ellington Colliery Brass Band and is heavily involved with Ellington Brass Roots. Amazing results for Clare and the Ellington band family yesterday! Well done everyone!”
