RAH Adjudicators Announced
Kapitol Promotions Ltd. has announced that this year’s Championship Section National Final (National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain) at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday 11 October will be adjudicated by a distinguished trio: Dr. Stephen Cobb, Ian Bousfield and Rob Wiffin OBE. With decades of experience and respect across the brass banding and wider music world, competing bands can be assured they’ll be in expert hands at this iconic event.
A spokesperson from Kapitol stated, “Stephen Cobb and Rob Wiffin have adjudicated this event on multiple occasions, and we’re delighted to welcome them back once again. However, this year marks Ian Bousfield’s adjudicating debut at the Championship Section National Final, and we’re excited to be working with him.”
Dr Stephen Cobb is a renowned conductor, adjudicator and music educator, best known for his work with The Salvation Army. He has directed The International Staff Band since 1994 and has had a significant influence on brass banding through his leadership, recordings, and commitment to developing young musicians and composers.
Rob Wiffin OBE is a highly respected conductor, composer, and educator. Former Principal Director of Music for the RAF Music, he is currently Professor of Conducting at the Royal Military School of Music and postgraduate conducting, composition and arranging at the London College Of Music. His extensive work spans military, wind, and brass bands, with numerous acclaimed compositions and a distinguished career in music leadership.
Ian Bousfield is a world‑renowned trombonist, former Principal Trombone of The Hallé Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra and Vienna Philharmonic. A celebrated soloist, conductor and pedagogue, he teaches in Bern and at the Royal Academy of Music, and has adjudicated at several top-level brass band competitions including Brass in Concert and the European Brass Band Championships.
