Scottish brass banding was well represented at the Royal Garden Party in the beautiful grounds of the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh on Earlier this month. Carrie and John Boax from the Scottish Brass Band Association attended as invited guests of the Lord Lieutenant of Fife, Robert Balfour, having been nominated by the Fife Charities Band Association for their services to Scottish banding. They were joined by FCBA chairman Neil McCormack and vice chair Tom Smith and, representing the National Youth Brass Band of Scotland, Freya McLeman.

King Charles and Queen Camilla welcomed over 8000 guests from across Scotland to the annual celebration of those people who have made positive contributions to Scottish communities. Carrie, SBBA president commented, “We were honoured to be nominated by the FCBA to attend the Garden Party, along with Neil and Tom from the association and Freya from NYBBS. We had a fabulous time! You’d be amazed at the people we bumped into both on the guest list and in bands – music certainly makes the world a small, lovely place to be! A great day was had by all, and we extend our thanks to Fife Council and to the Lord Lieutenant of Fife, Robert Balfour, for the invitation.”
