Bold as Brass Line-up

The National Coal Mining Museum for England in Wakefield will once again host Bold as Brass this year. Taking place on Saturday 7th June, the event returns to the historic venue to celebrate the longstanding connection between brass bands and coal mining heritage.
Seven bands from the second section and under will perform a 6-minute march across the museum site before a 20-minute entertainment set. These bands are:
Hade Edge Band
Emley Brass Band
Maltby Miners Welfare Band
Hatfield & Askern Colliery Band
Thurlstone Brass Band
Oldham Music Centre Youth Brass Band
Grange Moor Brass Band
In addition to the open adjudication, bands will be competing to impress you, the audience, to receive the People’s Choice award. This award will be decided upon by the bucket system: audience members will receive a token, to pop in the bucket of their favourite band.
If your band is free on Saturday 7 June, there’s one performance place still available and entry is free! Register today and showcase your summer repertoire to an excited audience. Last year’s event attracted over 1000 visitors; many of whom were seeing a brass band perform for the first time. Email emily@bbe.org.uk for more information on the event day.
In addition to the fantastic music, the National Coal Mining Museum for England will also be open as usual to explore. Highlights include the new ‘From Coal Queens to Comedy Kings’ exhibition, underground tour "darn pit", and the exclusive Brass Bands Archive pop-up exhibition. Refreshments will be available throughout the various food vans, and there are also several outdoor picnic areas for those who prefer to bring a packed lunch.
