New Cross-Border Contest

A brand new open, own choice entertainment contest has been announced for next year called Clans vs Counties, inspired by the cross-border brass competitions of the early 1900s.

The competition will be open to registered Championship, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th Section bands from Scotland and the North of England.

The first contest will be held on Saturday 6 June 2026 at the Queen’s Hall Arts Centre, located in the heart of the historic market town of Hexham.

Coming from the North-East and having lived Scotland for many years, contest organiser Helen Douthwaite-Teasdale believes a contest of this nature will be a perfect opportunity to showcase the wonderfully talented musicians of these regions whilst throwing in a touch of friendly competition.

Interested bands are encouraged to save the date and entries will open on Friday 2 Jan 2026. Please keep an eye on the contest website and social media for updates. For further information or enquiries, you can get in touch with Helen at clansvscounties@gmail.com
