Northern Counties Workshop

The Northern Counties Brass Band Association annual brass workshop, in conjunction with the Perth and Kinross Council’s music services department, attracted over 50 youngsters, many of whom had no active connection with a band. Led by Chris Flynn, principal euphonium of the cooperation band and a Besson Artist, the event was held at the North Inch Community Campus in Perth earlier this month.

NCBBA president Jim Wishart commented, “A big thanks goes to our secretary Tori Chamberlain for liaising with schools and bands in encouraging youngsters and a couple of oldies to attend. We are also grateful Lynsey Paterson and Rachel Wightman of PKC Music Services for helping out, as well as to NCBBA committee members Damian Martin and Ann Murray. Special mention must also go to Willie McMullen and George Annan from Perthshire Brass for their help and support.”

Some of the young instrumentalists had never played in a band before, so the end-of-workshop concert was an extra special occasion for them!
