Double signing at Flowers

Flowers Band has announced two additions to its cornet section. Ian Roberts joined the band as Assistant Principal Cornet in January, and brings a wealth of experience having previously been Principal Cornet and Soprano of the Tredegar Band, and Assistant Principal Cornet, Flugel, and Soprano Cornet of the Cory Band. Notable highlights include winning Best Soprano at The British Open 2013 and Best Instrumentalist at The Welsh Regional Championships 2019.

Mikey Foley-Hall rejoins the band on 2nd Cornet, having returned to the area after 18 months living in Yorkshire. Mikey is a graduate of The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and first joined Flowers in January of 2022. Whilst in Yorkshire, Mikey played Repiano Cornet for the Hepworth Band and was part of the team that secured 2nd place at the 2025 Yorkshire Area Contest, seeing the band qualify for The National Finals. Alongside his playing, Mikey is also the organiser of the highly successful ConsTest competition which takes place in Birmingham.

A spokesperson for the band stated, “We would like to publicly thank Mark Cowley for his hard work and dedication to the band over several years, as he now steps away from Flowers due to increasing work commitments.”
