Albourne wins in the West

Congratulations to Aldbourne on winning the West of England Regional Championships. Held in Torquay this weekend, the Championship outfit, led by Glyn Williams, impressed adjudicators Roger Argente and Dr Tom Davoren with a terrific showing of ‘Diversions’ by Derek Bourgeois. Commenting on the win a spokesperson for the band stated, “Aldbourne Band are over the moon to have been awarded 1st place at the West of England Area Championships!! We are very proud of our performance and are delighted that it found favour with the adjudicators! Huge thanks must go to our superb MD Glyn Williams for all his hard work! Thanks also to the amazing team of volunteers at WEBBA who help make this wonderful weekend of banding possible! Congratulations also to Flowers Band and St Dennis Band - Cornwall for their great podium finishes - see you at the Royal Albert Hall!!”

Congratulations are also deserved by Roche Brass, Porthleven Town, Bratton Silver and Illogan Sparnon Silver on winning their respective sections. Joining the winners at Cheltenham later this year will be Michelmersh Silver, Glastonbury Brass, Nailsworth Silver, Verwood Town, Bideford Town, Swindon Brass and Midsomer Norton & Radstock, who also won qualification to the National Finals.
