Smithills Complete Latest Marathon

Smithills School Senior Brass Band and MD Chris Wormald have completed their latest, annual 10 hour, non-stop sponsored Sunday marathon rehearsal (February 7th) to help raise funds for their forthcoming tours to both Ireland and the USA.

Repertoire

The annual 9.00am till 7.00pm Sunday rehearsal saw the band rehearse repertoire including ‘Knight Templar’ (Allan), ‘Mars’ from ‘The Planets’ (Holst) and ‘Bugler’s Holiday’ (Anderson/Barsotti) plus new arrangements by the MD for their 25th and 26th tours abroad.

Stamina

Chris Wormald observed: “The annual, marathon Sunday rehearsals I instigated have been a Smithills highlight for some 25 years now and raise around £4,000 for band funds.

"More importantly, the players make huge musical, technical and stamina improvement throughout these marathon days and there is fantastic bonding and great humour throughout. The hours genuinely fly by and are hugely rewarding for everyone involved."
