2022 Whit Friday

Black Dyke Band won the Saddleworth & Oldham Whit Friday for the first time since 2015.. Led by Director of Music, Prof Nicholas Childs and playing 'Knight Templar' the band were declared winners at Denshaw, Dobcross, Greenfield and Lydgate. Meanwhile in Tameside Foden's secured the Whit Friday honours for the 19th time in the past 20 competitive years by the narrowest of margins over Rothwell. The band performed 'The President' march under MD, Michael Fowles winning at Carrbrook, Heyrod, Stalybridge Labour Club and Tame Valley Dukinfield. 

With the contests making their long-awaited return, the organisers were pleased with the large number of competitors the event drew. The crowds were also clearly delighted by the high quality and varied performance they were able to enjoy as the sun continued to shine on the contest.
