Brass in Concert 2021

 

The World’s premier brass band entertainment festival returns to Sage Gateshead this weekend, but in a break with tradition the main events will all be held on Saturday 20th November. The Brass in Concert Championship features ten outstanding bands performing 23 minute programmes in pursuit of the coveted title “Brass in Concert Champions” and all introduced by the inimitable Frank Renton. This year’s competitors are: Brighouse and Rastrick, Carlton Main Frickley Colliery, Cory, Flowers, Foden’s, Friary, Grimethorpe Colliery, Hammonds Saltaire, NASUWT Riverside, Tredegar 

The Brass in Concert festival is widely recognised as a North East Success Story since its creation in 1977 and is the leading event of its kind in the World appealing to all ages and lovers of all forms of music and entertainment. The Brass in Concert Championship strives to provide a platform for the finest brass bands in the world to display and entertain, free of artistic restriction, their excellence as performers of high quality original and arranged brass band music, to be achieved through programmes and presentation reflecting the most current and progressive form of the genre and designed to appeal to both the general listener and aficionados of the discipline.

The Youth and Education activities are designed to showcase all that is good in live music. Programmes will deliver support and opportunity for young people to have the right to sample and learn a brass or percussion instrument regardless of background.
