Durham University Brass Band Composition Competition

Durham University Brass Band is inviting entrants to its now annual composition competition. The event is a great opportunity for young composers to get into the competitive composition industry.

Commenting on the competition a spokesperson from Durham University Band stated, “We are offering the chance for the winning piece to be published (with royalties) and £100 prize money, alongside their piece being performed by Durham university brass band in concert in the next coming year.”

Entrants are invited to submit a piece lasting no longer than six minutes that is inspired by either the theme of ‘back to banding’ or ‘concert march’. There are two separate classes for the composition entries: UK University students/ recent graduates or Durham University students/ recent graduates, with the winner having their work published by Modrana Music Publishers.

The closing date for submission is September 1st, with entries and enquires being made to: brass.band@durham.ac.uk
