BrookWright 2021 Deadline Passes
The deadline has now passed for the prestigious BrookWright International Brass Ensemble Composition Competition 2021 and a remarkable 92 entries have been received from all over the world, exactly the same number as entered last year’s brass band composer contest. The competition was open to composers and arrangers of any age and nationality, for pieces for between 4 and 6 brass players and optional percussion.
The judges, James Curnow, Dr Liz Lane and Paul Hindmarsh now have the task of selecting five pieces which will progress to the grand final. Follow-the-score videos will be created for each finalist, which will be posted at www.brookwrightmusic.com for two weeks, giving people the opportunity to vote for their favourite entry. A ‘Public Commendation Prize’ will be awarded to the piece with the most ‘likes’ by Friday 20th August. The overall winner, decided by the judges, and ‘Public Commendation Prize’ winner will be announced on Monday 23rd August.
BrookWright Owner Andrew Wainwright commented: “We are thrilled with the number entries to the competition which represent such a diverse collection of composers and arrangers from around the world. A wide variety of excellent pieces of various styles have been received. I would like to thank most sincerely all our entrants to the competition, our judges James Curnow, Dr Liz Lane and Paul Hindmarsh and our sponsors, Besson, David Daws Financial Services, Christopher Bond, John Lawes, NotePerformer, rooms4groups, Stratos and World of Brass. We wish all our entrants the best of luck! Look out for updates about the competition in the coming weeks on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/brookwrightmusic and website www.brookwrightmusic.com.”
