NYBBGB Launches Bursary Fund

The National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain has set up a Bursary Fund to ensure that no young musician is excluded from the NYBBGB experience due to cost. The band hopes to raise £6,000 to provide 10 bursaries for young musicians attending courses this summer.

A spokesperson for the organisation explained, “After moving all our activity and course online due to the pandemic the NYBBGB is now planning to hold our summer 2021 residential courses in person. To say we are excited is an understatement. We hope to welcome 130 young musicians to the Children’s Band and the Youth Band residential summer courses. They will receive instrumental tuition from outstanding specialist tutors, be conducted by World leaders in their field, tackle advanced brass band repertoire and make new friends for life.

“We have set up a Bursary Fund to ensure that no young musician is excluded from this fabulous experience due to cost. We hope to raise £6,000 to provide 10 means tested bursaries for young musicians attending courses this summer. We really hope you can help by making a donation.”

The NYBBGB is a registered charity, established in 1952 and is the UK’s leading brass band charity for children and young people. The organisation exists to give the brightest young brass and percussion musicians the opportunity to develop their musicianship, play together and inspire others. The fund will close on 23rd May to ensure that the bursaries can be awarded in time for the summer courses.

Since launching the fund earlier this month £1,760 has been raised. You can support the fund by donating via the NYBBGB’s just giving page: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/NYBBGBBursaryFund2021 If you would like any further information or to talk to someone about making a donation please contact Funding Development Manager Louise Shaw on louise.shaw@nybbgb.org.uk 01223 737831.
