Scotland to host International Tenor Horn and Flugel Day

Scotland is to host the third International Tenor Horn and Flugel Day - and players of all levels of experience are being invited to get involved.

Led by tenor horn virtuoso and Besson Artist Owen Farr, the free event is taking place in Woodside Community Centre, Glenrothes, on November 12 and will include recitals, masterclasses, instrument demonstrations and a massed blow for everyone involved. Delegates will be able to try new instruments as retailer Band Supplies will be on hand with an exhibition stand.

Looking ahead to the event, Owen Farr commented: "The whole aim for me is get people more passionate about the tenor horn. Events like the International Tuba Euphonium Conference and the International Trombone Festival do great things for their instruments and I have always found tenor horn players to be a little subdued. This day is there to fire them up and get them all involved in tenor horn love!"

Horn players from far and wide are welcome to attend the event in Glenrothes, a town situated in the heart of Fife, around 30 miles from both Edinburgh and Dundee. Proceedings are due to run from 10am until 5pm.

Ronnie Tennant, managing director of Band Supplies, said: "Owen Farr is a tenor horn player of the very highest calibre and it is wonderful that he is bringing this prestigious event to Scotland. We look forward to meeting delegates in Glenrothes and will offer them the opportunity to try out the fantastic instruments they will be hearing during the course of the day."

Anyone looking to register to take part in the International Tenor Horn and Flugel Day should do so here.
