Torbay at the Opera

Torbay Brass Band took part in the world premiere of a new opera on Tuesday 27th September 2016. Called the Geo-Opera it tells the story of the 4.6 billion years of the earth’s history in that time. Chairman of the band David Wilkinson commented: “This was a unique opportunity for the band to participate in something different. The opera was been written by a local composer who we have worked with before. It featured approximately 120 performers plus some members of the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra.”

The opera was performed in front of almost 1000 delegates from around the world at the 7th UNESCO Geo Parks Conference held in Torquay. The opera was also filmed live and simultaneously broadcast worldwide.
