New conductor for Brass Band Fribourg

Brass Band Fribourg, four times Swiss Champion and runners-up at EBBC in 2006 has appointed Maurice Donnet-Monay (pictured here) as its new conductor. Aged 27, this conductor and composer was appointed on 14th May 2016, taking over from Frédéric Théodoloz, who conducted the Band from 2012 to early 2016. 

Maurice Donnet-Monay lives in Fully and holds a Performance Masters in conducting wind ensembles, orchestras and brass bands, obtained with honours at Bern University of the Arts. Since 2013, he has been studying composition under the guidance of Xavier Dayer, within the same school.

In 2014, Maurice Donnet-Monay won the first prize in orchestral conducting at London Classical Soloists Competition & Masterclass. He currently conducts both A and B bands at Brass Band Fribourg, the Orchestral Ensemble Polygon, the Brass Band Junior Valaisan and the Belp Orchestra.

Brass Band Fribourg will continue working with their long term Musical Advisor and Guest Conductor Dr Robert Childs. Robert has been associated with Brass Band Fribourg since 2000 and has conducted the band on many occasions at concerts and contests.
