New series to ignite children’s love for music

New pre-school series airing on CBeebies set to ignite children’s love for music.

Childrens TV producer, Cheeky Little Media is proud to announce the global TV premiere of its new animated series, Kazoops; a brand new show that will inspire children with unique music that takes them on journeys into a little boy’s imagination. In a departure from the majority of pre-school content, Kazoops boasts a sophisticated soundtrack to convey story and render the vivid imagination of main character, Monty.

Airing on CBeebies later this month, Kazoops is all about Monty, a six-year-old boy who challenges life’s questions both big and small with the help of his limitless imagination and his best friend, Jimmy Jones, the family pet pig. In each episode, the duo enters make-believe worlds to challenge everyday preconceptions such as ‘do things have to be the same all the time?’ or ‘do all games really need rules?’

With beautiful songs in each episode, the show’s creators successfully highlight the magic and power of a child’s imagination. The songs cover a variety of genres and will appeal to both children and parents with their whimsical combination of guitars, ukuleles, drums, glockenspiels, retro synths, string vocals and more.

Patrick Egerton, Executive Producer, Cheeky Little Media, commented: “Music pervades Kazoops at all levels, and not just because each episode contains a unique song.”

“The seed of the series concept came from our song writer and performer Scott Langley. He had written these amazing songs about a boy and a pig who went on imaginary journeys. When we heard how ‘grown-up’ the music was, and how clever and funny Scott’s lyrics were, we knew we had the start of something cool for a pre-school audience. The songs are key to the show, and give us these visually rich adventures at the centre of each episode that are crucial to the story but can also stand alone as mini-music videos in their own right.”

For the target audience, Kazoops will be one of their first forays into exceptionally beautiful and inspirational music across a spectrum of styles and genres through the series. As they watch they will also appreciate how music echoes through Monty’s home with every room containing objects, pictures and furniture that are musically themed. There are instruments, record stacks, record decks, pop posters, even furniture shaped like treble clefs and musical staves.

All of the characters are musical too. There’s always someone foot tapping, humming, whistling or guitar noodling in the Kazoops house. Stan (Dad) plays the guitar, Jeanie (sister) makes electronic music in her punky pop-art inspired bedroom and the whole family regularly get together for a jam.

Monty also explores musical themes in the ideas he challenges over the series. He questions the assumption that animals don’t play music in one episode, or explores the different emotions music can make you feel in another to prove it’s not just for fun. There is even an unforgettable episode where Monty challenges the notion that practice makes perfect, eventually learning to whistle and joining the whole family in a lovely harmonised whistle-off!

Kazoops Episode 1 will air on CBeebies at 4.20pm on Monday 20th June.
