Swift progress for City of Chester Training Band

Just a few months into the year and the City of Chester Training Band can proudly boast of more members making the grade with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.

Under the tutelage of Chris Hardy (Training Band Conductor) and the band’s personal tutor, Kirsty Blain, four members of the Training Band have already passed their Grade 2 or Grade 3 exams. For young cornetist Eve Chaddock, the success was consolidated when she also won the band’s coveted Player of the Month Award.

Anyone interested in learning to play a brass band instrument (cornet, tenor horn, trombone, baritone, euphonium and tuba), or who fancies returning to playing after a break should contact Tony Blain, Training Band Co-ordinator, on 07913109951.

The Training Band meets between 18:00 and 19:30 every Monday during term times, at St Luke’s Church, Chester Road, Huntington. Alternatively, visit the Town Hall Square in Chester on Sunday 22 May between 11:00am and 15:00pm, when the Training Band will perform and invite passers-by to have a go at playing a brass instrument
