Witness the spectacle of beating retreat

Book to witness the spectacle of Beating Retreat on 25 and 26 May, featuring over 250 of the world’s finest military musicians of the Massed Bands of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines and a ceremonial drill display from 100 Royal Marines Commandos.

The world-renowned Beating Retreat celebrates the birthday of the Royal Marines’ Captain General, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, KG, KT and promises to be truly breathtaking occasion. 

Dating back to the 16th Century and only performed every two years, the event on Horse Guards Parade, London, offers a magnificent pageant of military music and precision, regarded by many as a piece of living history.

Taking the salute on the Wednesday is the First Sea Lord, and on Thursday, the Captain General of the Royal Marines, His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh. 

Staged from 25-26 May, both performances will run from 6.00pm-7.55pm, with guests to arrive from 5.00pm and all proceeds will go to The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity
