Dixon leaves Dyke

Ben Dixon has informed Black Dyke Band that he has decided to leave his Principal Tuba position with the band so he can concentrate on his conducting and teaching duties at Rochdale Music Services.

Ben has enjoyed many successes with Black Dyke including British Open, National and European titles and said, “I have got some great memories with the band and finishing on such a high with the Yorkshire Area win and a terrific visit to New York last weekend, has made my decision very difficult.”

Black Dyke Music Director, Nicholas Childs, commented: “Ben is a talented player, however he has explained to me that he needs to focus on his solo engagements and the approaching National Youth Band Championships and his exciting duties within the Music Service. Everyone at Black Dyke wishes Ben well in his future endeavours.”
