Victorian 'Childs Play' for Dyke

Shirebrook Town Council has raised £75,000, most of which will be dedicated to brass band projects including a film project that Black Dyke Band and its Conductor, Nicholas Childs, will perform the live soundtrack at the premiere next year.

The 14-minute film, narrated by Frank Renton, produced by former Desford player and Creative Director of Absolute Video, Martyn Harris and scored by Paul Lovatt-Cooper is entitled ‘Childs Play’ and will focus on children's play from Victorian times to present day exploring play of the future. Paul Lovatt-Cooper will spend time at Shirebrook Academy School to discover what nursery rhymes and playground songs to incorporate into the film score, as well as spend time with the film before composing the soundtrack. Local primary schools will sing the songs for the film soundtrack working with Derby City and County Music Partnership (Derbyshire Music Hub) choral team.
