Christmas tubas in London

2015 is the 42nd anniversary for TUBACHRISTMAS – events involving tuba players playing carols together - presented throughout the world each year.

TUBACHRISTMAS was conceived in 1974 by Harvey Phillips as a tribute to his teacher and mentor William J. Bell, born on Christmas Day, 1902.

Although largely an American tradition, yesterday tuba, euphonium and baritone players gathered in front of St. Paul’s Cathedral, London, and entered into the Christmas spirit wearing colourful clothing as the massed low brass ensemble entertained the masses whilst raising money for the Evelina Children’s Hospital.
