Stalwart Brian Elliott retires

Brian Elliott has decided to bowout from his administrative rolein south-west banding at nextyear’s 70th anniversary South West Brass Band Association (SWBBA) Championships, after giving 60 years of outstanding dedication to brass banding. 

Brian plans to spend moretime with his wife, Joyce, who first introduced him to his lifelong love of brass bands. Joyce played with Plymouth Silver and Totnes bands, where Brian’s administrative rolein brass bands started. He first became a band committee member and then served the SWBBA Executive Committee. In 1972, he went onto the Regional Committee, eventually becoming Secretary, which he remained for 13 years until succeeded by Sue Oldfield.
