50th Celebrations for Jena

This year Jena Brass Bands celebrate 50 years of brass tradition and began the anniversary year together with a large gala and jubilee concert on 22nd May. All four brass bands of the Blasmusikverein Carl Zeiss Jena e.V. including musicians aged from 9 to 63 took to the stage for the evening of celebration. The event began with the Junior Brass Band KLANGwelt before moving to the Youth Brass Band BlechKLANG, the Brass Band VielKLANG and the Brass Band BlechKLANG. All of the ensembles showed themselves in top form and delighted the audience with a varied programme that reflected the entire musical range of the association.

Under the direction of Andrea Hobson (Junior Brass Band, VielKLANG), Nick Prince (Youth Brass Band) and Alexander Richter (BlechKLANG), the musical spectrum ranged from well-known brass band classics to film music and rousing entertainment hits to demanding contest pieces. Thomas Rothhardt professionally guided the audience through the programme, entertaining the audience with many exciting stories and anecdotes about the organisation having been a long-time member of the Blasmusikverein Carl Zeiss Jena e.V. himself.

Creative Director, Alexander Richter, stated, "I am very proud of the performance with which we started our anniversary year. Such a prelude promises a lot, which we hope we will not only be able to keep but even surpass with our further highlights. I am looking forward to the International Summer Brass Band Camp, which can take place again in its original form for the first time, or the Jena Brass Seminar, where we expect high-ranking lecturers. In addition, there are numerous performances to look forward to: picnic concerts, church concerts or our big Christmas concerts, not to mention our participation in the German Brass Band Championships in autumn. In all our musical endeavours, we always have just one goal: to present the very best of brass band sound. Because our association has always been dedicated to this high musical standard, which is why we naturally place particular emphasis on it in our anniversary year!"
