Smithills & Eagley Band Player features in London Film Premiere

Oscar-nominated actor Richard E. Grant recently held the world premiere of his new film 'Everybody's Talking About Jamie' at the Royal Festival Hall. 20 year old Lauren Patel stars in the film as Pritti Pasha, but is better known to the banding fraternity as a valued member of Eagley Band. From 2011 and 2018 Lauren was a cornet pupil at Smithills and played in the Smithills School Senior Brass Band (Flugel Horn on the final Belgium Tour 2017). Lauren was also part Eagley Band between 2016 and 2019 until her filming commitments took over, and was part of the winning Eagley Band at the Ripon Contest in June 2017. 

Chris Wormald proudly stated, “We've all been texting Lauren back and forth this morning and are massively proud of her as we are her older brother Dom Patel, who is our Principal Timpanist at Eagley and so is playing with us in the National Second Section Finals in Cheltenham this weekend. He was in all of our Smithills Bands from 2008 through to 2015 before studying Music at Hull University and has been back with us at Eagley with Lauren this past few years.”
