Yorkshire Youth enjoys success of first Virtual Course

Yorkshire’s Premier Youth Band enjoyed their first ever virtual course this weekend supported by Geneva Group. The YYBB course was led by Prof. Nicholas Childs with principal players including Richard Marshall, Brett Baker, Connor Lennon, Dan Thomas, Gareth Hand, Siobhan Bates and Dave Smith from the Black Dyke Band.

The course was presented virtually over Zoom to 50 young musicians and demand for places for the next course has already started! The Administrator Alison Childs commented “the course was musically challenging yet fun packed. we held sectionals, full band rehearsals, and two workshops led by Richard Marshall and Brett Baker on Motivational Practice in this pandemic and Performance Tips, not forgetting the extremely popular quiz led by Matthew Routley.”

The YYBB prepared music which included ‘Strange New Worlds’ by Peter Graham and Sousa’s ‘Liberty Bell’. YYBB’s Social media coordinator, Rebecca Childs commented, “such was the success that we already have a date for our next course in March.”

If you would like to join us for our next course on 28th March, please contact course administrator Alison Childs at alison4horn@btinternet.com
