Withington leads Dance Collaboration

Allan Withington is working with acclaimed dancer Isabell Gisselgard on a musical project that will connect brass, percussion, poetry and dance. The work entitled, ‘Il Maestro’ will feature Allan as trumpet soloist accompanied by an ensemble of 5 trumpets and five percussionists as well as showcasing poetry and 5 contemporary dances. Drawing on his own vast experience in the role Allan, through improvisation, will explore the characteristics of the perfect conductor.

Commenting on the innovative project Allan stated, "I've wanted to explore this topic for some time — especially after so many years working and observing so many orchestral conductors. The complexities are obvious but there are certain traits and characteristics that are possible to define and to see in action that defines the way their make their music."

‘Il Maestro’ will premiere in Stavanger in March 2021 and will also be performed at a later date in Bergen.
