Foden’s launch International Online Solo Festival

As most of the world’s live music performances are severely restricted due to the COVID-19 virus, Foden’s have launched a new online brass music festival which will run until 12th April 2020. The band is inviting brass musicians from all corners of the world to post video performances of themselves playing a piece of their choosing for the online Facebook world to enjoy.

The festival has two categories: Open Performance and Slow Melody Solo Competition. Musicians of all ages are encouraged to post pieces for either category, repertoire choice is entirely free, but should be entertaining and suitable for viewing by all ages.

The friendly competitive element is to be found in the Slow Melody Solo Competition, which is open to anyone aged 18 and over. This contest will be judged by Mark Wilkinson, Chairman of AoBBA, with the winner being given the opportunity to perform ‘live’ with Foden’s Band at a suitable date and location.

A spokesperson for the event explained, “All you need to do for both sections is to upload a video of yourself making brass music to the band’s Facebook page and endorse the band you play in and location. If you are aged 18 and over please let us know so that you can be judged in the slow melody category.

“We are unable to take any responsibility for individual posts and entrants will be posting at their own free will. Our administrators will be monitoring all videos and require that any under 18 performers gain permission from their parents/guardians before uploading any content. Good luck, we look forward to seeing and hearing you play!”
