NABBSS cancelled for 2020

The North American Brass Band Summer School (NABBSS), due to take place in the dynamic waterfront city of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, has regrettably been cancelled. NABBSS, founded in 2014, has a close relationship with the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo (RNSIT) and for the past six years has played an increasingly important role with NABBSS' staff and delegates featuring as cast members to great acclaim. However, on March 19th, the RNSIT,  regarded as the world’s largest annual indoor show, announced the cancellation of this year’s event originally scheduled for June 27th - July 4th, 2020.

RNSIT Managing Director and Executive Producer, Scott Long revealed: "Although it may seem premature to cancel at this time, a show as large and complex as ours with an international cast requires extraordinary lead time when planning for any scenario.”

Given the current unprecedented global situation this decision was welcomed by the North American Brass Band Summer School, with its Musical Director, Dr. Robert Childs commenting: "NABBSS has been intrinsically linked to the RNSIT since its inception, so following the RNSIT's announcement to cancel, coupled with the future challenges our sponsors will undoubtedly face and the growing uncertainties that continue to surround us all, we’ve taken the decision to cancel NABBSS 2020 in the best interests of our staff and delegates."

Dr. Childs continued, "We are confident the RNSIT and NABBSS will return in 2021 and plans are already being put in place to ensure the success of a 2021 North American Brass Band Summer School.”

Although dates are yet to be set, a stellar line-up of tutors is confirmed and potential delegates can register their interest in attending NABBSS 2021 via www.nabbss.ca
