Mitchell joins The Feds

The South Brisbane Federal Band, affectionately known as ‘The Feds’ are excited to announce the appointment of a new Musical Director, Fletcher Mitchell. The Feds are one of the iconic A Grade brass bands of the city of Brisbane. Formed in 1912 in the tradition of the great English brass bands, they have been entertaining the public for over 100 years, performing monthly in BCC parks as foundation members of the Bands In Parks programme and are proudly involved in the ANZAC day parades, having played for troop trains throughout both world wars.

Fletcher is an International Euphonium Soloist based in Brisbane, Australia. He has travelled the world as a guest soloist, conductor, adjudicator and educator including the United States, Canada, Europe, United Kingdom, Asia, the Pacific and across Australia & New Zealand. He is the euphonium lecturer at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, brass examiner with the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) and finalising his PhD at the University of Southern Queensland. Fletcher is a Yamaha Performing Artist and Clinician.
 
A spokesperson from the band stated, “We are looking forward to working with Fletcher to see where this venture can take us.”
