Bethan Brown appointed Principal Baritone of Leyland Band
Highly rated young Baritone star, Bethan Brown, becomes Leyland’s second signing of 2020, strengthening the band in the lead up to the North West Regionals. Currently in her 3rd year of study at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Bethan has already gained plenty of experience in the top flight of banding.
At the age of 14, Bethan joined the GUS Band and won three Midlands Area titles which resulted in performances at the National Finals.
Since making the move to Birmingham, Bethan has had spells on Principal Baritone with the Staffordshire Band, Jaguar Land Rover and Foresters Brass, whilst making guest appearances with the likes of Brighouse, Foden's and Tredegar.
Bethan’s star quality was clear from an early age, as she became Principal Baritone with Youth Brass 2000 at the age of 12 which led to winning many prestigious youth competitions including the European Youth Brass Band Championships. Following a successful period as Principal Baritone with the National Children’s Band of Great Britain, Bethan graduated into the National Youth Band taking the Principal seat aged 14 whilst also qualifying for the Harry Mortimer Concerto Competition.

She comes highly recommended as a wonderful student at Birmingham Conservatoire, and her soloistic qualities were clear for everyone to hear when she began to play. It is great to have two of the finest young prospects playing in the same section in Bethan Brown and James Blackford, and we are looking forward to competing at the North West Regionals."
