Foden’s Band mark 20 Glorious Years in Armagh

Foden's will travel to Armagh for the 20th year from the 31st of January to the 2nd of February 2020 for their annual gala concert, young soloists and service of celebration weekend hosted by Armagh Old Boys Silver Band.

Foden's first made the journey to Armagh in February 2001 establishing great brass banding friendships across the Island of Ireland, which strengthen from year to year through the Annual February Gala Concert weekends and Armagh Brass Band Summer School week in August. As part of the 20th year celebrations Foden's have recorded a CD of Marches and Hymns in Armagh which have been performed during concerts over the years. This CD can be purchased from Ivor Stevenson with all donations going towards the Annual Brass Band Summer School.

The weekends celebrations include the Young Soloists Rehearsals and Performance in Armagh Old Boys Band Hall at Little Barrack Street (10:30 – 15:00 inclusive of lunch reception) on Saturday 1st February. A spokesperson for the band commented, “Every year we see outstanding developments and talent in the youth performances which take place during the day on the Saturday. It is a great opportunity for young individuals to practice and perform a solo accompanied by Foden's with individual feedback provided by their Principal players. The number of young folk and young at heart participating every year grows, which is encouraging to see.” Anyone wishing to participate should contact Ivor Stevenson to confirm their place via ivorbob@hotmail.com or 07734303005. All soloists must bring accompanying band parts,

To round the evening off Foden' will perform a Gala Concert in the First Presbyterian Church Armagh. Tickets are available from Ivor Stevenson ivorbob@hotmail.com or 07734303005. The following day there will be further music making in First Presbyterian Church Armagh at 11:30 where Foden's will lead a musical Service of Celebration. The weekend’s events are sponsored by Armagh Old Boys Band.
